Welsh Government Elimination of Profit from the care of Looked After Children

Fast Track Fostering Transfer

Welsh Government are in the final stages of implementing legislation to stop companies making money from looked after children. The elimination of profit law means only local authorities and not for profit organisations will be allowed to provide fostering services in Wales.

As a registered fostering charity, we will continue as normal, recruiting and supporting foster parents across South Wales as we’re fully compliant with all the new requirements.

We’re running a fast-track transfer scheme for existing foster parents who wish to transfer. You have a placement, you may not. We follow the Fostering Network transfer protocol to make the process as straight forward as possible. Any children or young people in placement when transferring will stay with you. They are at the heart of all decision making and planning. We guarantee to at least match the current payments you receive. Most foster parents who transfer tell us they do so for the high levels of support we provide from our experienced social work team.

If you’d like more information, please do contact us to have a confidential chat about what we can offer, call 029 2046 0004 or email cardiff@fostering.com. There are also opportunities to talk to our existing foster parents to gain a first-hand account of fostering with us. We aim to offer foster parents, their families and children looked after to ensure positive outcomes.

If you’re ready to apply, our online application form is the fastest way to start the fostering process.
